April 18, 2001 - Gained it back and then some...

He gained what the lose... and got some more out of it. He is now 2lbs and 11.8 ounces. We are still keeping our fingers crossed that he hits 3.0 this weekend. He was very fuzzy today and really uncomfortable about something. Tamie and I tried to figure out what's making him uncomfortable but there's nothing external. We figured it's just that his belly is too full.. probably because they tried to do actual " breastfeeding " and he was able to get some milk and may have had too much to eat.... Around 2AM we called them to see how he did with his 12AM feeding and apparently he was quiet.. so it must have been too much milk. We will see how he reacts tomorrow.

April 19, 2001 - A few more ounces......

Nothing exciting again... He is now 2 lbs and 12.2 ounces.... We were hoping he would hit 3.0 this weekend.. but It doesn't seem likely. He has been very upset about something and we can't figure out what's up with him. He's not in any distress or anything.. simply uncomfortable.

April 20, 2001 - Tick - Tock.. getting really "ansty"

They are planning on doing his head Ultrasound tomorrow.. The results don't come back in for a few days... but it should be ok. He gained more weight.. 2lbs and 13.2 ounces.

April 21, 2001 - Head Ultrasound - Checking for any brain bleeds

They did his Brain Ultrasound. The last time they did it, he checked out ok.. but they saw apparently something.. but not big enough to confirm anything.. so they planned on doing it again, which is today. Hopefully, the results checks out ok... He didn't gain any weight. Oh well.. too much action going on for him. Today is the day they started bottle feeding him.. they are not giving him a full bottle.. They are just trying to show him how it feels and how it works... So just a little practice for about 10-15 minutes, then they feed him through the tube. They have to do it everyday now so he would get use to it.... With all honesty he took in 7cc just for trying out.

April 22, 2001 - Getting really close

We asked the Nurse today if they have results for his brain ultrasound, Not yet. I guess we will shoot for tomorrow. It should check out fine. He now weighs 2lbs and 14.3 ounces. They tried to bottle feed him again today, but he didn't cooperate as much. He was just exhausted as he was uncomfortable.

April 23, 2001 - Almost there!!!

YIIIIHAAAA! Almost there! 2lbs and 15.2ounces.... a little bit more and he will be 3lbs! The brain Ultrasound checked out ok, they said that whatever that was there before is now gone.. so he is perfectly cool. The last thing they have to check on him are his eyes, they plan on doing that this week. They took him off his caffeine supply. We won't know how he reacts without caffeine for 7 days, apparently it doesn't wear off for 7 days. weird.

April 24, 2001 - He did it!!!!!! Good day and bad day....

Finally!!!!! 3lbs and .02 ounces! YEEEEYYYYYY!!!!! Zeth had a very exhausting day. When we came to change him and do his rounds at 9PM, he is usually fussy, this time he was just "zonked out". He had an eye exam a few hours earlier - they had to "dialate" (spelling?) his eyes to look behind his eyeballs to check for any bleeding, check the nerve growth if it is still in the correct spot, the Doctor said everything is cool. He also said that his nerves behind the eye is actually advance for his age.. meaning it is farther along than he expected. Again, It wasn't a pretty sight... If any of you have to go through it.. DO NOT WATCH IT!!!. I wanted to push the Doctor away to beat the crap out of him and Tamie had to go to the other room and cry... . They have to do the Eye test a couple more times to make sure everything is going correctly..... So everything is perfectly fine.

One more thing, We are sorry for not posting pictures. We ran out of batteries again. We have been using AA batteries but they die so fast and we can't find the good batteries that last for months. Then again, we just haven't had enough time to actually look for one.
