March 27 through 29, 2001 - The First few days...! |

Zeth came off the ventilator after 36 hours.. Doctors said that he is so strong that he can breathe and process his oxygen on his own.... Yeey! for the little trooper. |

March 29, 2001 - Our First Visit to the hospital .... |

They are now feeding him with breastmilk.. 3cc every 3 hours... not much.. but its good enough |

Zeth lost the 10% weight that he is suppose to loose. All babies loose 10% of their weight on the first few days after being born... he is also sunbathing with a special light that produces UV rays like the sun in a non-harmful way.. something to help the " jaundice"... |

Daddy couldnt visit Zeth as Daddy wasn't feeling well. Mommy couldn't spend a lot of time with Zeth today as the Nursery Intensive care unit was busy like hell. Mommy was able to take a few pictures though. Zeth came off the "Light" as his Jaundice symptoms are gone. They also raised his milk supply to 6cc. |

April 1, 2001 -
... Waiting for Zeth to "Poop".. |

We were told that they have been waiting for Zeth to poop for the past 2 days since they started giving him milk. He needs to poop a black poop. Don't k now what that is.. but it needs to be black.... On another opening.. he is now getting 9cc every 3 hours... :) The best news today was that they finally removed the tube that goes into his belly button..... He now have just the IV and the tube through his nose.. which is the only way to feed him.. |

Yep.. He did it.. after 3 days of waiting - he finally pooped! Its weird going in to the ICU asking the nurse if he pooped yet. Imagine asking an adult.. Something like " Hey John, How was your poop today?"... John replies "It was ok Richard, it was a little in the mushy side.. but it was good". He is now getting 10cc every 3 hours and 12 cc every 3rd third hour. |

They just raised his feeding to 16cc. He has gained another .115 and now weighs 2lbs 5ounces. With the rate he is going, he should be around 5lbs within the next 2 weeks. Hopefully, he gets to come home soon.. :-) |
